Dr Lavan
Dr Lavan Ganeshkumar, PhD (UCL). Founder of Trayna and of Ganes Academy.
Dr Lavan is Dr Lavan Ganeshkumar, a computational chemist by training and an A-level teacher by trade. He holds a PhD in computational chemistry from University College London and a first-class MSci in Chemistry from the same department, and he has taught A-level maths and science one-to-one for more than ten years.
He is not a medical doctor. Two London GPs are also known as Dr Lavan; this page is about the chemist and teacher.
What he built
In 2022 he founded Ganes Academy, a tutoring company in Camden, North London, teaching GCSE and A-level maths, chemistry, physics and biology one-to-one and in small groups.
In 2026 he launched Trayna, an iOS app that runs the structure of that coaching for every student: a plan for every day between now and the exam, with videos, notes, flashcards and exam questions, built against the student’s own exam board. Maths follows Edexcel; chemistry, physics and biology follow AQA.
